Everyone has told us that the "work week" will be hard and tiring but weekends are a great time to catch up on sleep and relax. So that's exactly what we did. Yesterday Jess was able to get up and eat in the cafeteria for the first time. One thing is for sure, he definitely has his appetite back, which is a good thing. When we got here we found out that he lost 26 pounds in the 13 days since his accident. I guess that's what happens when you don't feel like eating.
This morning we went and strolled around and then finally watched some football on a big screen TV in one of the education rooms. We had a great time. Briley was able to crawl all around and of course get into everything she could reach. One of her new favorite things to do is stand up and shake dads wheelchair or at least pull on the break lever. She still isn't walking by herself, even though we think she could if she really wanted to. That's OK though, because I know as soon as she starts, I'm going to be chasing after her even more :)

Best wishes from Down Under, Anna and Brett, and little Zacharoo (That's his Australian nickname, of course). Glad you're all in Denver to receive expert care in the work of recovery. Thanks for letting us share in the hard work with you. Here's a special hug for Candy, and another for Jesse, Emily and Briley. Wish we could, uh, hop in, riding a kangaroo. Fondly, Char

Hey Jess, Emily and Briley,
Went out to the ranch last night I saw that bright light shining at your house. It reminded me of you Jess and what a bright light you are in all of our lives. I can see that smile of yours right now. I am glad that you are able to get some down time to relax with Emily and Briley. I finally got you a bunch of t-shirts! I will get on sending out a package to you filled with lots of goodies. Missing you guys. Kate
Okay Jess and Emily...now that you two are both immersed in the world of cafeteria food I will finally agree to having you over for dinner. It's my only chance that my food will 'taste good'. Keep up those appetites, and I'll start researching how to run the various food-cooking appliances in our kitchen! Hugs and kisses, Nissa

Don't be too quiet when cheering for Oklahoma against Texas Tech Saturday night. (Hey, this is just some friendly information.) Keep workin', keep prayin', and in the words of one of my heros Jim Valvano, "Don't give up. Don't EVER give up."
Love to you and yours,
Mike H
