Playing Catch

It seems that the best way of seeing progress is to think about where we were in the past. As I was watching Jess in PT today I realized that he was doing things that he couldn't yesterday. No they may not be huge improvements, but they are improvements never the less. Yesterday was the first day that he was able to sit on the mat and balance while lifting his arms to his side. Today he was able to sit on the mat and balance while playing catch with Briley. I know it may not seem like a lot, but when we look back just 5 days ago he was just learning how to sit up on the mat.

For those of you who really know Jess, you know that when he sets his mind to something, there is no holding him back. One of our biggest obstacles right now is learning how to be patient with his arm. Because of the nerve damage in his left arm, he isn't able to progress as fast as he would like, which can be frustrating at times. So when your praying for us, one of the things to add to your list is for his left arm to heal quickly and for his right arm to stay strong and keep up with all the stress he's having to put on it.
Thank you so much for all your prayers and support. I know I said it in my last post, but just knowing that so many people are praying for us and supporting us helps tremendously.

Hey Jess, I know that you can do ALL things through Christ which strengthens you!! (Philip. 4:13)
You are also strong in the Lord and in the power of His might.(Eph 6:10) Remember that your inward man is being renewed day by day. IICor 4:16 Also remember that the Lord gives power to the weak, and to them that have no might, he increases strength, Because they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength, they shall mount up with wings as eagles, they shall run and not grow weary, they shall walk and not faint. Isaiah 40:29-31 It's GREAT to see you improving EVERY DAY. Love and Blessings, Dee and Denny

Hey guys!
Don't think that we've forgotten about you here at St.Pats! I have given out your blog to a few of the nurses, PT's who worked with you, so we'll be checking up on you! You're right Emily, little steps add up to miles. Jess, you've certainly come a long way since you arrived here with us. I was talking with the Life Flight crew who couldn't stop saying how impressed they are with you! You're a truly amazing person, keep working hard! We'll be thinking about you. Hope that you can stop by to visit when all this is over. Please let me know if there's ever anything I can do for you guys.

It is great to see the progress that you have made in such a little time Jess! I can only imagine that it is frustrating to not be able to fully use your left arm, but it will come! You are truly amazing, along with Emily and Briley. I can only hope that I have that kind of strength in the face of adversity! I am so happy to be here in Denver. Remember that I am here for you all whenever you need me. I also realize that friends and family are the most important things in this life, so I am here for you! See you soon! Love you all, Jana :)

Hey guys,
Yahhhhhh, your little computer illiterate friends got it figured out thanks to Jody!!! After trying everyday since this great invention of a blog began we have been trying!! What's with all these different little address bars anyhow? WOW, JESS YOU LOOK GREAT AND SITTING UP! We are so excited for the three of you. We talk about you guys all the time, wondering what's happening. Sounds like you are in the right place for support. Briley is so awesome and cute we miss her and Sage misses her sister. Eric has been plowing, yes, still plowing. He has the south half 3/4 of the way done. We'll be glad when he is done plowing, maybe next year? Hunters and cabins have been very steady and Sage has become a great help with the cabin cleaning.
she has been getting paid and she loves the money. Sage and I have been after the deer below the house, but those whitetail are tough to get a shot at. Sage crawls and gives me hand signals, and the thumbs ups when they are in sight. We have been close, but just waiting for the big one and the right shot. She is quite my little partner. Give Briley and Emily big squeezes for Sage and I. Sorry this is such a book, I am excited to talk to you guys. Miss you and always thinking bout the three of you. Keep up the hard work, it looks like you are rewarded everyday! Good to see your pictures.
Love Steph and Sage

Hey all, continue to keep your positive attitude and what seems like a long process now will soon be a path behind you. Just as Briley is beginning to take little steps to walk where she wants, you are making progress day by day leading to a milestone. Jess, I pray that you begin to have more mobility in your arm, but also that this does not come any sooner than your arm is ready. Emily, you are awesome! Your dedication to Jess and Briley is wonderful to see. It is great seeing the three of you face this obstacle in life as a family. Know you are in my prayers every day. God Bless!

Hey Big Guy,

Its good to see you doing so well. For a Montana Mountain Man like yourself there's now hill to high to climb. We sure enjoy opening your blog each day and seeing you and your beautiful girls. Emily, your doing such a great job filling us in on the details. Janell and I are anxious to see you when you get back to Dillon.

I hope that we are inspiring you as much as you are inspiring us.

Love you,

All of your friends in Texas love and support you! I am in Texas for my grandma's funeral today...the lady that loved you and Eric so much =). I will never forget that night at the rehearsal dinner, how sweet and loving you were toward her. She always talked of the two of you what gentlemen you are. I know she is up there just as proud of you for all the strength and courage you have going through this difficult time. Brock, Savannah, and I were proudly wearing your support buttons that we received from Sandy Rice this past Wednesday at dance. You keep wearing that smile that same smile that shines through on your button. We love you very much...thinking of you all...Love from Texas...Hill

Hi, Jess--it's Carolyn and Wayne, here in Texas, suffering from the heat and humidity. We may all mildew and grow mold before we get back to Big Sky country. It's great to see you progressing so much from day to day, and as Coach Emily says, that progress may not seem like much to you at times, but trust Emily--she's right. You and your go-getter attitude are accomplishing goals day after day. Well, we're off from Bay City to Wharton for the "gathering" (not a funeral, just a small celebration of Clara's life). We just wanted you to know that even through we're not at home, we are all STILL remembering you every day in our prayers! Wayne and Carolyn

Hi Jess, Emily, and Briley,
Jess it is wonderful that you are finally in the vertical position and working hard to get your strength back more every day. How far you have come since you left Montana is fabulous to see. Emily you are awesome and your love for Jess and Briley is evident in every picture. Thank you for sharing this time with us through your blog site. Jim and I check on Jess's progress daily. You two are an inspiration to all. Jess you keep playing ball with beautiful Briley and you will probably have a basketball star on your hands. She appears to be a happy baby just like her parents. You are always in our thoughts and prayers. Love to you all.

Keep it up, and you'll be good as new in no time.
